Why is breathing rate of young child is faster than that of an old man?

I think the breathing rate of young child is faster than that of an old man because the Young Child do many activities rather than an old man . hence the Young Child exhaust faster than an old man .usually the old man could not do main activities that of young child . because of exhaust station the Young Child breath faster .

in case of small child there is not very much space to store the air in stomach for few time that's why small child breathe faster.

this is the reason of the breathing rate of young child is faster than that of an old man.
