Why is burning coal a major source of pollution?

Coal is chemically complex fuel.The sulfur in coal combines with oxygen to form sulfur dioxide, which can be a major source of air pollution if emitted in large enough quantities. Today, many of the effects of coal burning have been reduced significantly or eliminated.

We know that the when we burn coal it produces harm full gas known as carbon dioxide and this gas is very harm full for our environment it cause air pollution and carbon dioxide is also called the green house gas so by this statement we know that it's not good for our environment
