Why is calcium having a higher melting point than magnesium

The metallic lattice of calcium is stronger than in magnesium, meaning it takes more energy to break that lattice and allow the metal to enter a liquid state. Because, shielding effect makes bond stronger.And thus melting point of Mg is less than Calcium.
