why is called sound wave is longitudinal wave

Sound waves in air (and any fluid medium) are longitudinal waves because particles of the medium through which the sound is transported vibrate parallel to the direction that the sound wave moves.

bcz the particles of the wave vibrate parallel to the direction of sound that is the characteristic of longitudinal wave that is why it is known as longitudinal wave
