Carbon is called tetravalent because it has 4 valence electron...
C(CARBON)
ATOMIC NO.6
ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATION:2,4
4 left in last last
in outermost shell there must be 8 electrons to fill it full
but carbon has 4 left...
THEREFORE IT IS CALLED TETRAVALENT..
