Why is cell called basic unit of life?
Answers
Answer:
Cell is referred to as basic unit of life because cells are the building blocks of a living organism.
In multiple celled organism, the same type of cells form a tissue, a tissue firms an organ, organs form an organ system and hence, the organ systems form an organism.
In single celled organism, the whole composition of their body is just a single cell through which their different life processes take place.
An example for multiple celled organism is humans and single celled organism is amoeba.
Each and every cell present in an organism works I order to make a life process function - resulting in life.
Cells are also responsible in the process of reproduction. Cells divide to produce a new organism. The two types of cell division include mitosis and meiosis.
The different cell organelles helps in the proper functioning of a cell. The cell organelles include nucleus, lysosomes, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, etc.
