The western part of brazil is densely populated. => Wrong. because, The Amazon river basin is in the west part of brazil. It has swampy land and dark forests, hence livelihood is not possible there.

The central and western of Brazil is less populated because this is the only region has borders with other Brazilian regions and with other countries. That's why military bases constructed in this region to defend Brazilian fronteriers. It helps to populate interior region of Brazil.
