why is changing direction considered to be an acceleration?

as we know that velocity is displacement travelled in a time and we know that displacement is a vector quantity as it has magnitude as well as direction and acceleration is change in velocity as velocity change displacement change and if displacement change it direction changes..may i help u ...

In the same way, Acceleration is also a vector quantity and the is defined as the rate of change of velocity.

A vector quantity contains both magnitude and direction.
If magnitude changes the quantity changes and if the direction changes the quantity changes as well & if both magnitude and direction change the quantity changes.

Since acceleration is a vector quantity, if direction is changed it changes.
