Charles Darwin is considered to be 'Father of Evolution' due to his contributions to the field of evolution.

Charles Darwin proposed the Theory of Natural selection.

Natural selection theory states that the individuals with special traits survive by escaping from the predators to multiply their number while other individuals will perish from the environment.

The theory insists on the fact that all living organisms descend from  common ancestor by exhibiting variations over along period of time or through generations by generations. The Darwinian theory is also often referred to as Darwinism.
