the first step of the digestion takes place in our mouth. the teeth present in our mouth helps to break the food particles onto small pieces and those smaller pieces form bolus with the help of saliva which provides a liquid to that food particles and that forms bolus and then only we can take food inside.
u can also check by doing this experiment in your home u will notice that u can't take food inside without chewing it.
