Chhotanagpur Plateau :-
Chhotanagpur Plateau is called the store house of minerals because of the fact that it is very rich in mineral resources like mica, bauxite, coal, copper, limestone, and iron ore. This region also contributes significant share to our country's total mineral output. The districts of East Singhbhum and West Singbhum are the major source of minerals in the region. The coalfields of the Damodar Valley Corporation supply most of the coking coal in India. Massive coal deposits are found in the Central basin. The important coalfields in the Basin are Jharia, Raniganj, West Bokaro, East Bokaro, Ramgarh, South Karanpura and North Karanpura.

Answer:
Most steel manufacturing industries are located in the Chota Nagpur Plateau region because of the availability of inexpensive, high-grade raw material and abundant cheap labour. The main challenges faced by the industry in realising its full potential are limited supply of expensive coking coal, erratic power supply, low output of labour and poor infrastructure. also, mica deposits are found in the northern edge of chota nagpur region.
