Answer:

Weather is a very complex phenomena, having multiple variables. The following is only a text book description of weather in north India

North India has very little moderating influence of the sea. Most of the south receives some degree of climatic moderation from the land/see interactions.

Because of this continentality, the temperature and pressure centers develop along north Indian axis.

January Isotherms: notice formation of high pressure close to NW India

  July Isotherms: notice the presence of low pressure in NW india

 Why are summers so hot?

Two reasons:

1. large landmass, low moisture : heat is rarely lost by latent phase change, unlike the south.

2. Psychometric temperature: where the humidity is high, high temperature feels  muggy, without humidity it is scorching.

Why is winter so cold?

Apparent migration of the sun has a latitudinal component. land north of the 28 degree north latitude receives predominantly inclined rays in winter season. The intensity of suns rays is proportional to the sin of the angle of inclination.

Secondary systems also tend to affect north India due to their origin in the Mediterranean and Caspian seas. These are called Western Disturbances (WD).

WDs are a predominantly winter season phenomenon. WDs result in rainfall, i.e. moisture.

After rains the cold Himalayan winds result in further lowering of temperature leading to fog.

Fog as we know, acts like a positive feedback impulse.

 lower temp+rain= Fog-->blocks sun-->lowers temperature-->more fog.

Answer:

Explanation:

This is mostly due to continentality.
