If water enters from the bottom of the condenser, it will always be completely filled with cold water which ensures efficient cooling. During distillation, vapors are formed in the heated distillation flask.
With the water entry at the bottom, the condenser fills evenly. With the water entry at the top, the water flow is interupted.
Anyway, you should really try it out. Remember that you should always secure water pipes with fasteners.
