Why is coliseum still important today

The Colosseum was nothing but garbage left in place for centuries. No one wanting to really touch it, and noone wanting the space. Its new place as a tourist destination doesn’t change that it was just an empty derelict for more than a thousand years. If anyone had wanted that space prior to that, they would have just torn it down. But the shadow of it remained.

It is a monument to grandeur, arrogance and horror, so tainted by it that it just remained untouched like an unsalable haunted house.
