When the concave mirror is kept very near to an object then it forms an erect and virtual image then when the dentists use this mirror it enables them to see them an enlarged and erect image of the teeth for further treatment.

The very purpose of lens used by dentists is that they use them to get a magnified image of the small tooth in order to detect the perils inside..
If the dentist is using a convex lens then though he is able to get an erect image but that image will be smaller in size.. Soo it could not help hence the dentists use concave Lena and not only they use thease lens bt also keep this within a short range and we know that in a concave lens if the object is kept within a shirt range then we get not only an erect image but also magnified.....
