Why is copper wire not suitable for a potentiometer?

Yes, Copper wire is not suitable in Potentiometer.


[There is a used of Manganin wire in potentiometer]



Reason/Explanation :-

While doing experiment we observe that the potentiometer having high temperature coefficient of resistance.

It has also small resisitivity. 

On the other hand copper (wire) is a well conductor of electricity as well as low resistance capability . 

Hence even a slighter change in temperature can cause huge change in it's resistance, So, In result the experiment will be affected.
