Why is corruption a social problems

Look at lions and tigers and other carnivorous animals. They hunt and eat. Once full they ignore the prey and don’t hunt.
Whereas, human beings are supposed to be self-aware, and conscious, yet they indulge in storage, savings, etc.,. They weave a web of reasons, around, why they want so much in store, just for the sake of a limited existence in this world.
The sanathana dharma system prescribed a very systematic method of leading life, and if followed, the being will be really happy and make others happy and peaceful co-existence prevails.
One of the prescribed, is, take only what is required for your existence, never be greedy, take care of others & needy. Do all this without any attachment. Simply put, perform duties diligently. Do not have craving for any thing.
But today we see everyone indulging in just the opposite. Make hay while sun shines, earn as much, make as much, by whatever means and store, don’t help the needy, just avoid them by pretending to be NOT HAVING. This is the root cause of corruption. This behavior affects the entire society, because everyone is observing everyone. These acts whether by individuals, or politicians or parties, or IAS / IPS or the Government employees, are noticed by everyone, including children.
A child is taught to cross road like this, Look to your right, look to your left, walk across and don’t run suddenly. He sees speed limit boards, No horn boards, and also sees that everyone is violating the rules and ultimately forgets what he was taught and practices the existing bad behavior.
Where we live, there are residences of police officers and judges. Once my son asked me, after seeing the autos overloaded, Doesn’t the judge see when he is going to the court? I stammered, then regained poise and answered him that the judge is a very busy official, and the only time he gets to read the newspaper is during the time when he is being driven to court from his residence.
When simple rules are not adhered to and broken, as we are pathologically weak in following rules, the children observe, get confused and finally follow the bad path.
A child understands that there is serious mismatch between the talking & walking. his mind becomes corrupt.
Crime: Why is it a social crime? Because everyone tend to learn bad quickly than the good by observing others. The weaker sections are deprived by the acts of the corrupt and therefore they lag behind and finally it is a crime on the society.
Thank you.
