Why is cotton considered a more environment friendly fibre than silk

cotton is easy to cultivate

silk making i.e. sericulture involves killing of silkworms which may cause ecological imbalance

also during sericulture silkworms are fed with indiscriminate amount of leaves

cotton doesnt involve these,so we can consider cotton to be more environment friendly than silk
