HAI DEAR FRD,

Curved surface area is used rather than total surface area because painting is done only over the surface of the pipe.We don't consider the open sides of the pipe.

chandanikishore99: But it's not mentioned in the question that the top and bottom is open
ravichandrand30: if it is having two openings at top and bottom only it is called a pipe.otherwise it is called as a cylinder or something.
chandanikishore99: Ya thanks
ravichandrand30: can you really understand this?
chandanikishore99: Yes
chandanikishore99: i understood
ravichandrand30: qualify me as brainliest
chandanikishore99: I'll mark u brainliest when the option appears
ravichandrand30: ok thank you so much

Because pipe always has no end they are hallow inside and there is no cylindrical circle and whenever we paint we paint it from outside. therefore, curved surface area is used please mark me as brainliest and if you want more explanation or any doubts in it tell me in comments.
