Dark reaction occurs in plants in the absence of light (not during night) after a gap of 1/1000 of a second after light reaction. Hence it is called as dark reaction or light independent reaction. PLZ MARK AS BRAINLIEST

  • Dark reactions are independent of light.
  • These reactions take place even in dark at night.
  • Hence, it is called dark reaction.

  • Calvin cycle is known as light independent reaction / dark reaction.
  • It takes place in chloroplast in presence of RuBisCo enzyme.
  • Calvin cycle require ATP & NADPH for production of glucose.
  • Though dark reactions are light independent, they must occur during the day.
  • Usually Calvin cycle results in gain of 6 fixed C-atoms.
