why is difference between duration of day and night hardly felt in kanyakumari but not so in kashmir

Kanyakumari is just 8 degrees away from the equator. As equator recieves the direct Sun rays, there won't be hardly any difference between the day & night. Where as, Kashmir is 37 degrees away from the equator. So there can be about 5 hrs difference between day & night.

Hence, places located close to equator do not feel difference between the duration of day and night.
