difference between the duration of day and night hardly felt at kannyakumari because of its latitudinal position which is 8 degree 4 mins north of equator and since the days and night are equal on equatorial region because of the sun's direct positioning, the difference is hardly felt in the surrounding areas, and kanyakumari is much nearer to equator than kashmir (about 37 degrees north)
