Why is difference of duration of Day and night more in j &k than in tamilnadu ?

Tamil nadu is just 10degree away from the equator.In equator there is hardly any difference of duration of day and night.While in kashmir is 37 degree away from the equator so the difference between the duration of day and night is 5 hours.
