diffusion is faster in gases because of the huge amount of kinetic energy in gases molecules which make them move here and there rapidly and therefore diffusion occurs rapidly in gases whereas in solid the molecules are tightly packed the amount of kinetic energy in molecules is very less and therefore the diffusion can't take rapidly in solids.
