Multicellular organisms like us contain a huge layer of skin and the energy requirements are high. Oxygen will take a lot of time time to reach the blood stream through diffusion and the cells will die.

multicellular organisms like humans have Complex body designs . They have specialised cells and tissues to perform various necessary functions of the body such as intake of food and oxygen. multicellular organism are not in direct contact with the external environment like unicellular organisms therefore diffusion cannot meet their oxygen environment.

Hope this helps you .
