Diffusion is insufficient to meet the oxygen requirement of multicellular organisms like humans because:

a) whole body surface is not in contact with the environment

b) body size is so large that oxygen requirement cannot be fulfilled with diffusion

c) Due to division of labour we require more energy , if oxygen is transported by diffusion it will take year to transport 1 ATP molecule from head to toe.
