In multicellular organisms such as man, the volume of the human body is big and hence, oxygen cannot diffuse into all the cells of the human body quickly. ... Hence, diffusion is insufficient to meet the oxygen requirements of multicellular organisms like humans. if diffusion was the process to meet oxygen requirements it takes 3 years to move 1 molecule of oxygen from nose to our nose. OMG!!!!

unlike in simpler organisms, in multicellular organisms all the cells are not in direct contact with the surrounding environment and they have large energy needs to maintain their body temperature!!!...
