why is dilute sulphuric acid not used instead of dilute hydrochloric acid?

Dilute sulfuric acid is not used to form carbon dioxide because the calcium sulfate that is formed is insoluble in water and forms a layer on the marble thus preventing any more marble to come in contact with the acid. Since the reaction is stalled carbon dioxide is not formed.
