Oxygen is smaller as compared to the Sulphur.
Due to the smaller size, it can form the pπ-pπ bonds effectively and form the O==O molecule.
The intermolecular forces in case of oxygen are considered as the weak van der Walls forces.
The phenomenon causes it to exist as gas.
Sulphur exists as the puckered structure which holds together by the strong covalent bonds.
That’s why dioxygen is a gas.
