the direction of angular velocity and angular momentum are perpendicular to the plane of rotation .the direction of both angular velocity and angular momentum are defined by right hand thumb rule.the direction of the thumb of the right hand when you curl your finger points the angular velocity .THUS THE ANGULAR VELOCITY IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE PLANE..
