Why is direction of waveform reversed on color doppler at low prf?

The resulting Doppler frequency can be used to measure velocity if the beam/flow angle is known. As can be seen from Figures 1 and 2, there has to be motion in the direction of the beam; if the flow is perpendicular to the beam, there is no relative motion from pulse to pulse.
