Why is dissociation of covalent compounds called ionisation?

Ionisation means the breaking of molecule into ions.
While in dissociation it is not necessary that the breaking of molecule is into ions, it can also break into molecules.
Dissociation and Ionization are both processes that happen in an aqueous solution to separate a compound to form ions.
