Distilled water is a compound because it contains only molecules of water . But in tap water it is a mixture because it contains minerals and vitamins in it.

Answer: Tap water is a mixture of water, minerals like calcium and magnesium, bicarbonate, and chlorine, which is added to it to disinfect it. There may also be contaminants in tap water, but they can be easily filtered out with a drinking water filter. If you filter it, tap water is just as good as bottled water and it’s a lot cheaper.
