\textbf{History of Diwali Celebration}-----------------------------

According to Hindu Mythology , Diwali is recognised as the " Festival of lights " . This is because of a special reason .

I guess , everybidy knows about the Mythological Legend , Shri Rama , who Killed Ravana and rescued his wife , Sita from the dark hands of the Asura Ravana.

Rama was the Prince of Ayodhya , and as and he had three mothers ...Kaushalya , Savitri and Kaikeyi.
Kaikeyi , Rama's step mother formed a plan and ..sent him, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshman to the jungle for a time period of 14 years .

At , that period of time only , Sita was kidnapped by Ravana ...So , when Rama killed Ravana and rescued Sita and was returning to Ayodhya , all the people of Ayodhya were very happy ..as their Prince was back...So , they lighted as many Earthen lamps as they could ..and made Ayodhya look like Heaven ...

This return of Rama from the jungle , and rescuing Sita from the clutches of Ravana was celebrated as DIWALI in Ayodhya .

So , this is the reason people nowadays as well celebrate this day in a grand manner. People have become so obsessed with this Myth , that they nowadays burn firworks as well , and enjoy this day a lot . But ..this is causing pollution these days ..so ..I'd suggest minimal use of fireworks ..and maximum use of earthen lamps ..this makes your house look beautiful , and is eco - friendly as well..

Diwali, Deepavali or Dipavali is the Hindu festival of lights, which is celebrated every autumn in the northern hemisphere. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolises the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance." Light is a metaphor for knowledge and consciousness. During the celebration, temples, homes, shops and office buildings are brightly illuminated. The preparations, and rituals, for the festival typically last five days, with the climax occurring on the third day coinciding with the darkest night of the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika. In the Gregorian calendar, the festival generally falls between mid-October and mid-November.
