Why is DNA copying accompanied by the creation of a new cell

DNA has chromosomes in it which are thread like structures . In these chromosomes there are genes which are responsible for inheritance ( characteristics from parents to the offspring. As the characteristics go from the parents to offspring a new cell is formed
