DNA and RNA are the two types of genetic material. Genetic material refers to the materials that are found in the nuclei and cytoplasm. They play a fundamental role in determining the nature and structure of a cell. They carry the hereditary information from generation to generation. They carry the information that tells a cell what to do, kind of like blueprints. The strands are made of a special sugar, nitrogen bases, and phosphate groups. So to pass all the characters from generation to generation copying of DNA is essential.
