It provides resistance against three diseases so it is called triple antigen.

The DPT vaccine provides protection from diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and tetanus (commonly known as lock-jaw). To provide protection against these three diseases, the DPT vaccine has to provide antigens specific to each bacterial species.
