India's East coast is highly vulnerable to tropical cyclones (Eg: Phailin, Laila, Nilam, Vardah) due to various reasons: Geographical reason: The tropical cyclones either originate in the South-Eastern part of Bay of Bengal or the remnants of typhoons over the North-Western Pacific region.
