Why is eastern side of the western ghats called a typical rain shadow area ?

because the south west monsoon enters in india through east of western ghats.

and the average elevation of western ghats is 900 to 1600 m.

they stop the rain bearing winds and cause orographic rainfall on the east side whereas the west of western ghatsreceives less rainfall due to this.
