here are many factors behind this and we have to co-relate all the factors to understand the problem.
1. Large population
India has a whooping 1.3+ billion people, out of which 75% are literates and 41% are below 20 years of age. Just imagine trying to create jobs for so many youngsters.
2. Education system
In the pursuit to provide education to all, India is facing problem with respect to the “quality” of education. Even though many people are termed are educated, they will neither have the necessary knowledge nor skills to do a particular job, because most of the institutes concentrate only on imparting knowledge and prepare students to score marks rather than prepare them for jobs.
And another reason would be the institute itself. Licence is provided to most of the people to open an institution because of dirty politics. These institutes will neither have the required faculty nor facilities to train students. The students who graduate from such institutes will have a degree and can be termed as educated, but are they employable? No!
3. Job seekers Vs job makers
According to me this is the main reason behind lack of jobs. Majority of the population is running behind jobs and no one is willing to take the risk to start their own venture and inturn create thousands of jobs.
4. Reservation system
A major problem for lack of quality labour and brain-drain in our country is caste-based reservation. The person who possesses the required skills and capabilities to perform a job is deprived of the opportunity to work and the job is offered to an individual from the reserved category who is not so capable ( in some cases “not at all” capable) of doing that job.
It's like a person works really hard to learn how to fly an aeroplane and the society is restricting him to ride a bicycle and asking him to be satisfied with it, on the other hand a person who barely knows how to ride a bicycle is given the opportunity to fly the plane even though he is not capable of it.
What do you think the most qualified guy would do? Give up and settle for something less? No way. He would continue to apply for the same job or same seat in an university the following year or he would leave the country and go to a place where his skills are respectedand recognised.
Now, if he plans to stay in the same country and try for the post the upcoming year he would be unemployed for one complete year. Even if he plans to leave the country , he has to prepare for it and again he'll be unemployed for sometime.
5. Attitude of the parents
Most of the Indian parents compare their kids with other so called “successful kids” or “sharma ji ka beta” and kill the dreams of their children. The reason why I mentioned this is to concentrate on the root cause of unemployment.
If parents force their kids to pursue something which the kid is not passionate about, he would never put in the effort to succeed. He would never take that course seriously and finally he will turn into a person who has a degree but no skills and no passion.
Will he get a job? No way!
If we start to list all such reasons, you'll understand the severity of the problem and also understand why our country is still termed as “developing”.
