Answer:

This happens to many people. Sleepiness after eating is caused by many factors, such as the type of food you consume, messy sleeping habits, your health condition and so forth. ... The body then breaks down the nutrients from the food in the digestive system to turn it into glucose that will then convert it into energy.

Energy is not released soon after eating because it takes time to breakdown the complex forms of food into monomer units and gets absorb by the body and then followed by respiration to release energy.

Explanation:

When food is ingested it ia mainly in the form of protein, carbohydrate, fats or lipds.

These are complex forms of food which cannot be redily absorbe dby our body instead it takes teh process of digestion to breakdown them into simpler or monomeric forms which can be absorbed by the body.

The glucose is the ultimate ready source of energy which undergoes the process of respiration releasing large amount of energy in the form of ATP.

Some amount of energy or heat gets dissipated due to faecation, urination and othe rmetabolic activities.

The energy released by the body depends upon the avalaibility of food it one is starving the stored food is used as energy source or else instant food is used as energy source.
