Because English is a very common language and it is used everywhere
It is also a medium to communicate people of different countries

A global language is a language that is spoken almost all over the world.Global languages are learnt and known by everybody.English is spoken almost everywhere in the world.It is used in academics,business markets,etc.Hence English is called a global language.
