equality is important for a democracy because equality gives rise to diverse opinions. With diverse opinions only can democratic system exist. If we try to tip or bottle neck the democratic system in a way that we start heavily censoring diversity of opinions then we would reach farther away from the real answer, from the equilibrium point and ultimately fall into chaos. The diversity of this country always comes from the sense of equality, thus equality is an essential part of a democracy.
