Molecular Formula of Methanol = CH3OH .
Molecular Formula of Ethanol = C2H5OH .It is commonly known as ALCOHOL..
Methanol is added to ethanol to make it unfit for human consumption because it is extremely poisonous. When taken internally it affects vision, causes blindness and even death. Ethanol containing some methanol (~ 10% ) and a small amount of pyridine , copper II sulphate and a green or purple dye is called methylated spirit of the denatured alcohol.Methanol is used for the denaturing ethanol rendering it unfit for human consumption.
