why is fertilization is not possible without pollination?

fertisation is fusion of male and female gametes to form zygote

Vidushii11: this is bcz if there is no pollination yhere will be no transfer of pollen grains and if no transfrr of pollen grains, there will be no fusion of male and fenmale gametes

We can't say that assured fertilization occurs in self pollination but there are very high chances of fertilization to takes place. Its is because there are some factors like self incompatibilty, improper synchronization between pollen release and stigma receptivity, which can decrease the chances of fertilization.
