Fertilisation depends upon pollination because when the pollen grains are stick to stigma flower (of the same species) then stigma makes a liquid to which the pollen grains respond by formimg a pollen tube. In the pollen tube male gamete is present which makes its way along the tube and reaches the ovule , it goes inside and fuses with female gamete. This fusion of male and female gamete is called syngamy and its product is called zygote.
