The blood from the body, which is low in oxygen enters the atrium via the sinus venosus, which contains the pacemaker cells that initiate the contractions. The blood is pumped into the ventricle by the atrium, which is a thin-walled muscular chamber. so that's why fish heart is called venous heart

Fish heart is called venous heart as it only receives blood from veins and pumps it directly to the gills for oxygenation. In fish’s heart blood passes only once in one complete circuit. This type of blood circulation is known as single circulation and heart is known as single circuit heart
