It is written so as two calcium sulphate molecules share one water molecule so when we write calcium sulphate as singular we have to write half a water molecule. POP and Gypsum are interchangable as POP is made from gypsum by dehydrating it. If you add 10 water molecules to POP it will become gypsum again and vice versa.
