Friction is necessary because without friction we cannot do our daily activities such as - walking, running etc.
friction is an opposite force by which we can walk , run and many other activities.

Without friction, we wouldn't have heat and
therefore no life. Fire cooks food, moves cars and
puts men on the moon.
Friction is also how things accelerate (change
velocity). Nothing would be able to move without
friction unless it collided with another object.
We get a lot of use out of friction, with the only
downside being that friction results in energy being
"lost" in the form of heat (energy cannot be
created/destroyed, but when energy moves from
one body to another some is converted to heat). If
we could achieve zero friction, perpetual motion
would be possible which would result in limitless
energy.
