Why is Ganga the longest river in India being shorter than Bramhaputra?

Because Ganga originates in India at Gangotri glacier in Uttarakhand and its mouth it at Gangasagar near Kolkata (aroung 100kms).
Whereas Bharamputra originates near Mansarovar in Tibet. Here it's known as Tsangpo and enters in India from Arunachal Pradesh and flows through Assam and then to Bangladesh and its mouth is at Sunderbans.
So Ganga in its entire journey flows in India except its distributary which bifurcates at Farraka and flows to Bangladesh but its one distributary Hooghly remains in India. On other hand Bharamputra is an international river and only around 20 % of its part is in India.
